Day 2655 | Reading Friend
/After a walk to the library, Chase and I spent some time reading with the bun. He tries to eat the books more than an ideal reading friend would but he’s got other redeeming qualities.

Birthday round 3/4 wrapped up today with Robbe’s Dungeons & Dragons-themed birthday party. He had the best time ever—just so happy and enthusiastic. Even Chase was a good sport as Dungeon Master and assistant party-planner.
And now we have at least a short birthday break. A welcomed break, no doubt about that (although the beginning of April is feeling awful close at the moment).
Robbe did AMAZING at tonight’s piano recital. He picked a tough song that he’s been working on for months and he crushed it. So proud of this guy
That’s right…our *little* guy is now ten. Things are getting serious over here.
We had a really lovely day celebrating all of his favorite things: video games, shopping, D&D, ice cream cake, soup (he loves soup!), and a Marvel movie. Pretty fantastic, right?
I just love him so much.
We’re kicking off the birthday weekend the best way we know how…with a trip to the arcade. It’s not my favorite, but I’m not the one celebrating a 10th (!!) birthday.
Another swim meet and another happy swimmer. It sure has been fun seeing Chase take on a new challenge this winter. He won’t be sad when the four day/week practices are done, but I’m hopeful he’ll be up for giving it another try in the future.
When the temperature shifts 50 degrees in 24 hours, you appreciate the little things—like the sunshine hitting my beautiful new plants.
Thank goodness the super cold is supposed to be short-lived.
Robbe’s team won the championship game tonight to end his second season of basketball. So much excitement and fun. He even had a special fan from Cape Cod to help cheer him on. Whoop whoop!
When the school is holding an ice cream fundraiser, what choice do you have, really?
After several days of birthday celebrations and more laughter than is safely advised (I’m assuming), sometimes you need a bit of a break to soak it all in.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to help me celebrate my birthday. It means more than I can say. It was a really great day.
Can you imagine a better way to kick off a week of birthday celebrations than a Broadway musical right down the street? I can’t!
I’ve been waiting for this one. Eek!!
The bun has a new favorite chair.
We 3D-printed these “armies of rabbits” today and, I have to admit, they’re pretty awesome. So many rabbits and some pretty epic catapult situations.
Chase had his first ever swim meet today! He’s new to competitive swimming but he’s been learning a lot and is enjoying being part of the team. It’s been very sweet to watch. Today was his first official time in the lanes and he did great!
52 degrees in January…wow!
In you’re not sure how crazy this is, the normal high temp for today in Eau Claire is 24 degrees. That’s, like, a lot different.
We soaked in the warmer temps and sunshine as much as possible. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s snow on the radar for next week. We’ll enjoy it while it lasts, though!
Yep. We’re still pretty into it.
We got to hang out with these friends two weekends in a row! Can you believe how lucky we are?
A family outing to the UWEC Blugold’s basketball game tonight. Anni was cheering which gave us the extra motivation we needed to leave the house. This guy even got his face painted (and ignore the temporary tattoo put on backwards by his mom).
Chase and I busted out of Eau Claire today to help this sweet lady celebrate her birthday. She’s been one of my favorites for a very long time and I felt so grateful to have spent part of her big day with her.
