Whoop whoop! As of 3:20pm today, it’s officially summer vacation. Ready or not, here we go!
Chris and I busted out of EC for a beautiful wedding this weekend. I just love love love weddings.
Special shout-out to my mom for taking the boys so we could really live it up. We appreciate it SO much.
The spring soccer season has officially come to an end. We started in about 30 degree weather in April and ended in 90 degrees today—you’ve got to love sporting in Wisconsin.
As much as I really dislike all the schlepping (and games EVERY weekend), I do enjoy watching the boys working hard, making new friends, and running around like crazy. Robbe is planning on playing again in the fall, but Chase has decided to hang up his cleats, so we’ll be on the lookout for a new activity for him to try out.
I call this one “Who Me?” after busting the bun on the couch in the living room. He looked pretty comfortable up there, so I’m guessing it wasn’t the first time.
This smart, funny, beautiful, talented young lady graduated from high school over the weekend and we couldn’t be more proud of her. She’ll be able to accomplish anything she puts her mind to and we’re excited to watch her next chapter unfold.
*The bottom photo is just a cute one from a graduation party. We’ll call it “Three Stages of Boyhood”.
It’s the end of the school year and that means time for another Culture Fest & Wax Museum. Robbe became an expert on South Africa and Chase transformed into Albert Einstein (you can tell by the wig, right?). We’re so proud of all the effort both boys put in and their final products were really impressive.
The other two photos are from the student art show. We had one 3D “stick man” sculpture (Chase) and one back-lit transparency art (Robbe). Both beautiful pieces of art.
This little guy loves climbing on a belly. And look how cute he is.
Some days you just need ice cream, you know? Today was one of those. It’s pretty lovely to have built-in ice cream buddies…that’s for sure.
These crazy guys did it. They jumped in the lake for the first time this year. I watched happily [and warmly] from the beach.
Chase pretty much rocked the 5th grade track and field event today. Can you believe it’s time for end of the year activities already? Sheesh.
I forgot to post this photo from over the weekend. Our first trip to Belts when we were back visiting Stevens Point. Yep. As delicious as ever.
Over the weekend, we set the bun up with some sweet outdoor time. I’m pretty sure Flopsy enjoyed the fresh air, delicious grass, and warm sunshine. Or maybe he hated it. It’s always hard to tell with him.
It’s nice to have a special day, don’t get me wrong, but I’m seriously thankful every single day for these two. I feel lucky that they call me mom and I feel even luckier that I get to be their mom.
Chase and I had a road trip to La Crosse for the WMTA Regional Piano Competition today. He qualified for it back in early April and has been diligently practicing his songs ever since. He didn’t end up placing in the top three, but he worked really hard and played his little heart out. As a fun bonus, the two of us got to explore a little bit of La Crosse while we were waiting for results. It was a lovely mom + son date—I’m such a lucky mom.
We just got the saxophone back from the shop. Middle school is inching closer every minute.
Check out Chris’s Sunday project! Chase got his closet library and now we LOTS of room for so many more books. Home projects are no joke, you know? But Chris made it happen and he didn’t even complain. That’s an equal accomplishment.
The bike were brushed off and pumped up for our first family bike ride of the spring. And what a perfect day for it. We’re looking forward to lots of biking adventures again this year.
Big news! I was officially elected President of our school’s Governance Board tonight. I’ve been serving at VP for the past two years and I’m ready for the next challenge. Woohoo!
Thanks to my sweet family for organizing this celebration for me when I got home. They’re the best ever.
The weekly Stay and Play events at school are back. Even though it was cold and very windy, the boys were living their best lives. Chase and his friend were tucked away playing a Magic game and Robbe was showing off all his skills in the gaga ball pit. And I just tried to stay warm.
Eek! Our favorite local, independent bookstore just opened in its new home…DOWNTOWN! We can now walk to a bookstore. Can you sense my enthusiasm?
I just adore the owner of Dotters Books and am beyond excited to add bookstore to our sweet little corner of Eau Claire. It’s a good thing we’re adding a new bookshelf at our house. I have a feeling this is going to get crazy.
