Big news! I was officially elected President of our school’s Governance Board tonight. I’ve been serving at VP for the past two years and I’m ready for the next challenge. Woohoo!
Thanks to my sweet family for organizing this celebration for me when I got home. They’re the best ever.
The weekly Stay and Play events at school are back. Even though it was cold and very windy, the boys were living their best lives. Chase and his friend were tucked away playing a Magic game and Robbe was showing off all his skills in the gaga ball pit. And I just tried to stay warm.
Eek! Our favorite local, independent bookstore just opened in its new home…DOWNTOWN! We can now walk to a bookstore. Can you sense my enthusiasm?
I just adore the owner of Dotters Books and am beyond excited to add bookstore to our sweet little corner of Eau Claire. It’s a good thing we’re adding a new bookshelf at our house. I have a feeling this is going to get crazy.

Even though it hasn’t felt very spring-y, the flowers have decided the season is changing [finally]. Hopefully this means the warmer temps will follow shortly.
Ok, we might not be best friends, but we’ve been getting along pretty good lately. I’ll call that a win.
We got to observe just a couple of dances yesterday—today was the big show! Anni was incredible (as always!) and we all enjoyed watching her perform so much.
It was a bit of a bittersweet day today, though, as this is probably the last dance competition I’ll attend. Anni’s graduating this year so we won’t have anymore dancers. Sniffle, sniffle. I’ve enjoyed participating in these event so much over the past 15+ years. And even with all the crazy stuff going on (having babies, raising babies, dealing with my own kids’ activities, etc.), I still managed to make it back for a competition most years. It brought me much joy to witness all the hard work and practice pay off. It’s been truly inspiring—I’m one proud aunt.
We’re in one of our favorite cities watching one of our favorite people dance her heart out. We’ve also managed to squeeze in a round of mini golf, sushi for lunch, a wonderful (and delicious!) family dinner, and more rounds of card games than anyone would like to admit.
Yeah, it was a pretty great day.
Look at us taking in some culture! My friend and I enjoyed a lovely evening on the town—including dinner out and a Cinderella ballet. My first ever full-length ballet performance. It was quite impressive to say the least!
We were tied with two points left going into the last deal. And then this guy pulled off the win. He’s cutthroat like that. I don’t mind accepting defeat when my opponent is this cute, though!
When it’s mid-April and you’re still dealing with snow…you find a good book and a warm beverage to pass the time. Thanks for the assist on both, Aunt Kelli!
Yeah. I’m over this nonsense.
It’s our first weekend back at the lake in months. And it’s just what I needed—stick clean-up and all.
It started out because Robbe wanted to crochet a mini taco for Chase for his birthday. Thankfully, our sweet babysitter had the patience (and crochet experience) to make that happen. Three babysitting days and three crochet projects later and Robbe is practically an expert. Now he just needs to teach me!
The water level in the river next to our house is crazy right now. It’s not officially the highest we’ve ever seen it, but it’s getting really close. Shockingly, it the area around the river can handle this sort of flooding without problem. Impressive, right?
The boys participated in a painting class for 4-H last night and they both nailed it. I think their selected art really says a lot about them: galaxy cat and colorful penguin. Ha!
We jumped right into 70 degree weather today and I’m totally fine with it. The boys were off school again so we spent some time buying new kicks, eating lunch outside, and enjoying a leisurely walk to the library (and Chase even got his very own library card!).
NOW I remember why it’s worth living in Wisconsin. I was really starting to question our choices.
An Easter basket hunt, a day trip to the lake, a delicious meal, an egg hunt for the boys, dying eggs, and even some time outside without coats on. Yeah, it was a pretty lovely Easter.
How does the new 11-year-old want to spend his birthday weekend? Full of Dungeons & Dragons activities with his favorite cousin and favorite brother, of course!
A D&D quest with a real Dungeon Master this morning and then the D&D movie this afternoon. I know nothing about any of this, but it sure made me happy to see how much he enjoyed his day.
Check out this 11-year-old! He had the best day ever: restaurant breakfast, game day with his good friend, two birthday desserts, family pizza dinner, and oodles of presents.
I feel lucky every day to be his mom.
Tonight is the last night the boys will be sharing a room. I’ll give you a minute to pull yourself together. Sniffle, sniffle.
Chase decided it was time to move out on his own so he’ll be venturing across the hall tomorrow night so that he can wake up in his new room on his birthday. That’s a big deal, right?
Don’t be expecting a big room reveal tomorrow, though. At this point, he’s got the necessities in the room and that’s all—a bed, curtains up, a fresh coat of paint, and new carpet. We’ve got big plans for the rest, and it will come eventually. For now, it’s nice that he’ll have to visit his old room once and awhile to get clothes and whatnot.
